ABOUT US

The High Road MarketPlace is a nonprofit, co-op gallery that markets the work of more than 100 local artists from villages on the High Road to Taos and other communities in Northern New Mexico. The MarketPlace is known for its wide variety of fine art and crafts, representing the rich heritage of art in the area.

The High Road MarketPlace was founded to help develop the arts as a means for rural residents to make a living. It unites a network of artists and community members, of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, in a common goal of bringing an economic base to their communities.

The High Road MarketPlace helps artisans achieve a livelihood through self-employment in the practice of their art, which is even more critical in our current economy.

ARTIST OF THE MONTH

Our artist of the month this month is Ron Leard. Ron uses materials found in nature to create ceremonial pipes, pipe bags, antler jewelry, jewelry boxes, and jewelry trees. Much of his work is crafted from naturally harvested or legally obtained exotic antlers and horns.

His work has evolved through the years as new interests and influences guided him, creating a beautiful cohesion of Mother Earth, form, functionality, and engineering. A real delight to see and own, so if the Spirit moves you, do come by!
