- New Mexico Creates“promotes and strengthens the creative entrepreneurs of New Mexico by providing links to the vibrant arts market via the Museum of New Mexico Foundation Shops' four locations and this extensive online store. In addition, the NewMexicoCreates program offers training seminars to artists on marketing, licensing, pricing, and small business loans. Americans for the Arts- “is the nation's leading nonprofit organization for advancing the arts in America. With 45 years of service, we are dedicated to representing and serving local communities and creating opportunities for every American to participate in and appreciate all forms of the arts.”
Plein Air Painters of New Mexico (PAPNM)- “is an organization of artists dedicated to preserving and promoting the tradition of painting en plein air — in the open air, or outdoors. PAPNM provides regular opportunities for members to paint together at paintouts and also hosts exhibitions and workshops. PAPNM evolved from Plein Air New Mexico, which was founded by Deborah Paris in 2004.
New Mexico CultureNet - aims “to promote the understanding and appreciation of the diverse cultures of New Mexico by connecting people, ideas and resources.” “New Mexico CultureNet is a human web of people who are committed to communication, cooperation and collaboration. We are artists, educators, writers and technologists. We are New Mexicans of diverse origins, interests and experiences.” New Mexico CultureNet includes an events calendar and an artist showcase.
The Arts Education Partnership- “provides information and communication about current and emerging arts education policies, issues, and activities at the national, state, and local levels. Our major projects and activities include: commissioning and disseminating research about critical arts and education issues; maintaining and linking databases on state-level policies for arts education; and convening national forums around significant themes and issues in the field.”
Self Employment in the Arts- focuses “on the business of art. SEA was created with the idea that more artists will succeed if they have business skills, knowledge, resources, and contacts. Through artist-led conferences, a website full of resources and articles, and educational tools like the award winning Entrepreneurial Artist DVD; SEA helps artists turn their passions into a living.”
Arts Resource Network- asks “HOW WILL YOU GROW? What does it take to live and work as an artist? How do you start and run a successful arts organization? How can you vitalize and shape your community with the arts? The Arts Resource Network, a service of Seattle's Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, can help you find the answers.” This site offers a multitude of resources for artists building their own businesses, and ideas for organizations and communities involved in the arts.
WESTAF, the Western States Arts Federation- “is a nonprofit arts service organization dedicated to the creative advancement and preservation of the arts. Based in Denver, Colorado, WESTAF fulfills its mission to strengthen the financial, organizational and policy infrastructure of the arts by providing innovative programs and services to artists and arts organizations in the West and nationwide.”
ArtLex- is “an online visual art reference” which “explains the language of art. It offers you access to a vast array of information about the media, techniques, styles, genres, contemporary issues, and cultural contexts of the art that you and other artists have produced in various periods and regions of the world. Users can explore this online dictionary for art-related terms and find definitions, supporting images, and related links for further information.” This one is fun! Try it out!
